All About Miss B

Welcome to “ELA with Miss B: Blog Edition.” Chances are you have made your way over here from However, if you didn’t, take a moment to check it out! I don’t think it would be fair for me to not introduce you to the “face” behind “ELA with Miss B: Blog Edition.”

My name is Cassidy Black, and I am a second year high school English teacher in Western Pennsylvania. At my district, I teach 10th grade American Literature, 11th and 12th grade through our virtual academy, and I advise our school newspaper. It is quite the busy schedule, but I love every minute of it!

In addition to teaching, you can find me assisting in the drama department with various plays and musicals, and volunteering my time to help athletic events run smoothly. I’m really good at running a volleyball score clock or timing track meets if you were curious.

I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2022 with a B.S.Ed. in English Education, a minor in Journalism and Public Relations, and a certificate in English as a Second Language. Recently, I reenrolled at the same university to pursue a master’s degree in Literature and Composition (I guess teachers really are lifelong learners).

Outside of school, I love to spend my time with family and friends, at the gym, or reading a good book. I also thoroughly enjoy a good cup of coffee from time to time (who am I kidding – all the time). I am always open to new book recommendations!
